Hyderabad: Government Advisor Sudarshan Reddy chaired a high-level review meeting on Hyderabad monsoon preparedness at Malkampet and directed departments to strengthen measures aimed at preventing waterlogging, urban flooding and traffic disruptions across the city.
The meeting was held in accordance with the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Telangana DGP C.V. Anand, senior officials from GHMC, HYDRAA, Cyberabad Police, the Irrigation Department and other key agencies attended the review meeting.
Officials discussed coordinated strategies to respond to heavy rainfall and minimise inconvenience to the public. The departments reviewed preparedness plans for flood-prone areas, traffic management and emergency response mechanisms.

DGP C.V. Anand said Telangana Police has completed preparations for the monsoon season. Police teams are maintaining round-the-clock surveillance in low-lying areas, vulnerable localities and major traffic junctions.
Meanwhile, authorities are identifying alternative traffic routes and preparing public advisories for emergency situations. The DGP said emergency response teams remain on standby for immediate deployment whenever required.
Furthermore, he stressed the need for close coordination among departments and said effective flood management requires a collective effort. Special engineering teams have already started field inspections at critical locations, including Malkam Cheruvu, Khajaguda Lake, Biodiversity Junction, Kondapur and the Miyapur region.
The teams are assessing drainage networks, water flow channels and issues related to encroachments. Additionally, officials are examining measures to improve stormwater discharge and reduce flooding risks.
C.V. Anand said authorities would maintain zero tolerance towards negligence or complacency during the rainy season. He emphasised that public safety remains the highest priority for all departments. Moreover, he assured citizens that agencies would provide timely assistance whenever required. The DGP also directed all police units across Telangana to remain on full alert until the end of the monsoon season.
