Hyderabad: IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu urged the IT industry to take direct responsibility to mentor graduates in Telangana, stating that academic education alone could not ensure industry readiness.
He made this call while delivering the keynote address at the 10th anniversary celebrations of PSR Techhub in Hyderabad on Monday. The event took place at Taj Vivanta, Begumpet, and drew entrepreneurs and young professionals.
The Minister highlighted that nearly two lakh engineering graduates passed out of Telangana institutions every year. He said the responsibility to mentor graduates could not remain with the government alone. Instead, he stressed that the IT sector must actively train and shape this talent pool.
“The industry must step forward not just to absorb this talent, but to actively train, mentor, and shape it,” he said. He urged companies to institutionalise structured programmes to mentor graduates and improve employability.
IT firms mentor graduates through structured programmes
Sridhar Babu announced that the state government would operationalise its AI Hub within the next few months. The facility will offer structured upskilling and reskilling programmes for software engineers.
He said this initiative would support efforts by IT firms to mentor graduates and bridge the skills gap. Moreover, it would create a stronger pipeline of industry-ready professionals.
The Minister cited PSR Techhub as an example of how mid-sized firms could contribute. The company employed over 250 associates during its growth and demonstrated the potential of homegrown enterprises.
Founded in 2016, PSR Techhub grew into a ₹120 crore enterprise despite facing disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sridhar Babu praised founder Ranga Rao and the team for disciplined entrepreneurship and resilient leadership.
Responding to the Minister’s appeal, Director P. Namyutha said the company would mentor graduates entering the industry. She stated that PSR Techhub would train fresh engineers and support their transition into professional roles.
“The Minister has shown us the way. We will train fresh engineering graduates. We will mentor them, walk with them, and help them find their footing in this industry,” she said.
She also announced that the company planned global expansion, with clients already established across multiple countries.
