Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao on Monday launched the TG Organics app during Rythu Varotsavalu in Tandur of Vikarabad district.
The programme was organised under the Praja Palana–Pragati Pranalika initiative.
The minister also inaugurated an organic products exhibition centre at the venue.
Addressing the gathering, Thummala said the Congress government introduced several special schemes for farmers.
He claimed the government was bringing revolutionary changes in the agriculture sector.
The minister stated that the Telangana government launched the TG Organics app to promote organic farming.
He said the application would also help establish direct links between farmers and consumers.
TG Organics app connects farmers with consumers
According to the minister, only products certified by the Telangana State Seed and Organic Certification Authority would be available through the app.
He said consumers could directly buy vegetables, fruits and grains from farmers without middlemen.
Thummala added that users could search for organic farmers within a 50-kilometre radius through the application.
Consumers could also contact farmers directly and place orders using the app.
The minister stated that farmers would receive better prices as middlemen would not be involved in the sales process.
He also said consumers across Telangana could access certified organic products through the platform.
Thummala informed that people could download the TG Organics app from the Play Store.
He further said efforts were underway to establish a turmeric board in Tandur.
The minister alleged that the Centre was creating difficulties for farmers in the supply of urea.
Tandur MLA Buyyani Manohar Reddy said agriculture had become profitable under the Congress government.
He also assured efforts to provide irrigation water through the Kotpally and Juntupally projects.
Agriculture and Cooperation Department Secretary Surendra Mohan, Vikarabad Collector Deepak Tiwari and other public representatives attended the programme.
