Hyderabad: BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao on Monday criticised the Congress government over crop procurement delay and alleged that farmers were facing severe hardship under its rule.
KTR visited a Bengal gram procurement centre at Sadasivpet in Sangareddy district and interacted with farmers about their problems.
During the interaction, farmers complained that the government was not purchasing crops on time. They also alleged that procurement operations were causing distress to cultivators.
However, KTR assured farmers that the BRS party would stand by them and support their agitation.
Crop procurement delay sparks protest call by KTR
Addressing the media, KTR said former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao ensured timely Rythu Bandhu payments to farmers.
Meanwhile, he alleged that the Congress government failed to purchase crops without restrictions and was troubling farmers.
KTR demanded that the government procure paddy, sorghum and Bengal gram crops at the minimum support price.
Further, he said the BRS would intensify protests in support of farmers across the state.
KTR called on party leaders and workers to inspect procurement centres during the coming week and stage protests against the government.
He also asked party cadres to submit representations to tahsildars and RDOs over procurement-related issues.
Additionally, the BRS leader urged party workers to question the government across Telangana on behalf of farmers.
