Hyderabad: MLC Dr. Sravan Dasoju on Saturday questioned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over his recent remarks praising the Gujarat model and alleged that the Telangana Government was moving away from Congress ideology.
In a press note, Dr. Sravan Dasoju said the Chief Minister’s statements had raised concerns within political circles regarding the direction of governance in Telangana. He questioned whether Telangana was being governed according to Congress principles or following a model associated with the BJP.
Referring to Rahul Gandhi’s long-standing criticism of the Gujarat model, Dr Sravan Dasoju said the Congress leadership had consistently opposed it for more than a decade. He expressed surprise that Revanth Reddy was now projecting the same model as part of his economic vision for Telangana.
The MLC also criticised the Chief Minister’s “Bade Bhai” remarks towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and alleged that the state government was shifting from welfare-oriented governance towards a capital-driven development approach.
Gujarat model remarks trigger demand for white paper
Dr. Sravan Dasoju demanded that the Telangana Government release a white paper detailing financial benefits received from the Centre. He sought clarity on the extent of support Telangana had secured through the Chief Minister’s relationship with the Union Government.
He also questioned whether Telangana was developing independently or being transformed into what he described as a “secondary Gujarat” through industrial corridors and infrastructure initiatives.
“The Indian National Congress must clarify whether Revanth Reddy has been allowed to deviate from Rahul Gandhi’s development vision,” Dr. Sravan Dasoju stated in the press note.
He further said Telangana voters had supported the Congress expecting a distinct governance model focused on welfare and regional identity.
