Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation conducted a large-scale e-waste collection drive across various circles in the city under the PP-PP Program and collected 4 metric tons of electronic waste.
The initiative aimed to promote responsible disposal and scientific recycling of electronic waste while creating awareness about environmental protection and sustainable waste management practices. Officials said the Charminar Circle recorded the highest collection during the campaign.
GHMC stated that the drive received encouraging participation from residents, welfare associations, educational institutions, and volunteers. Officials said the increasing response reflected growing public awareness regarding the safe disposal of obsolete electronic equipment.
The civic body appreciated the contribution of citizens and organisations that supported the campaign and helped ensure its success across Hyderabad.
E-waste collection drive sees strong public participation
GHMC officials reiterated their commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable waste management initiatives in the city. They appealed to residents to continue participating in future e-waste collection drives and adopt eco-friendly disposal practices.
Officials said proper recycling and scientific disposal of electronic waste were important to reducing environmental pollution and protecting public health.
The corporation also stated that similar awareness and collection programs would continue in different parts of Hyderabad to encourage cleaner and greener surroundings.
