Sravan Dasoju attacks Telangana government over Hyderabad law and order

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dr. Sravan Dasoju on Tuesday accused the Telangana government of failing to maintain law and order in Hyderabad after the reported harassment of Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B. Sumati by a group of rowdy sheeters.

In a strongly worded statement, Sravan Dasoju criticised the Congress government and questioned public safety under the administration led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

The BRS leader alleged that if a senior IPS officer faced harassment in the city, ordinary women could not feel secure.

Referring to Mahatma Gandhi’s statement on women’s safety, Sravan Dasoju claimed that Hyderabad was witnessing a “Rowdy Raj” under the present government.

Law and order criticism targets Hyderabad policing

Sravan Dasoju alleged that the incident reflected a collapse of policing and weakening fear of law among criminals.

He cited NCRB and police data and claimed that crimes against women in Hyderabad had increased in recent years.

According to the BRS leader, cases related to harassment, stalking, and outraging modesty were rising across Telangana.

He also questioned the effectiveness of the Integrated Command and Control Centre and accused the government of misusing surveillance systems for political purposes instead of public safety.

Law and order questions raised against government

The BRS MLC alleged that police personnel were being diverted towards political duties instead of regular policing responsibilities.

He questioned the absence of SHE Teams, patrol vehicles, and Blue Colts during the reported incident involving the police commissioner.

Sravan Dasoju demanded accountability from the Chief Minister, who also handles the Home portfolio.

He also questioned whether patrol units were diverted for political programmes, rallies, and VVIP movements.

The BRS leader said Hyderabad deserved stronger policing and better public safety measures.
