Media Academy holds SIR awareness seminar for journalists

Hyderabad: The Telangana Media Academy conducted an SIR awareness seminar for journalists to explain the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of electoral rolls.

The programme was organised on Monday at the Media Academy auditorium in Nampally with the support of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana.

Telangana Media Academy chairman K. Srinivas Reddy presided over the seminar.

Meanwhile, B. Chennayya, Special Grade Deputy Collector, and D. Chiranjeevi, IT Manager from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, participated in the programme.

They explained various aspects of the SIR process through a PowerPoint presentation.

Additionally, the officials outlined the objectives of the voter list revision exercise and the procedures involved.

Meanwhile, the officials briefed journalists on voter registration, correction of details, additions and deletions in electoral rolls.

They also explained the process of conducting door-to-door verification as part of the revision exercise.

Further, the officials responded to questions raised by journalists and clarified doubts related to the SIR programme.

Speaking on the occasion, K. Srinivas Reddy said electoral rolls play a crucial role in the democratic system.

Moreover, he stressed the importance of accurate and timely information reaching the public.

The chairman said the media has a key responsibility in creating awareness about initiatives undertaken by the Election Commission.

He also urged journalists to develop a thorough understanding of the SIR process and disseminate factual information to citizens.

Meanwhile, journalists from print, electronic and digital media organisations across the state attended the seminar in large numbers.

Additionally, Nagulapalli Venkateswara Rao, Secretary of the Telangana Media Academy, participated in the programme.

The seminar provided journalists with an opportunity to gain a clearer understanding of the voter list revision process.
