Hyderabad: Future City Commissioner of Police Tarun Joshi on Saturday said police had formed seven special teams to trace the Shabad murder suspect, Raj Kumar, who allegedly killed six people at two locations in Ranga Reddy district.
Addressing the media, Tarun Joshi said police received information about the murders during the night. Meanwhile, investigators found that the killings occurred at two different locations in Shabad mandal.
Shabad murder suspect linked to earlier POCSO case
According to the preliminary investigation, Raj Kumar first went to the teenage girl’s house at around 11 p.m. Police alleged that he stabbed the girl’s mother and grandmother to death with a knife. He then allegedly took the 17-year-old girl to a lake near Nagarkunta, where he allegedly murdered her.
Police said the suspect later returned to his own house. Further, he allegedly killed his wife and two young children there.
Tarun Joshi said police had registered a POCSO case against Raj Kumar on May 16. He later secured bail. Additionally, investigators are examining whether the murders were linked to that case.
The Commissioner said Raj Kumar allegedly called his parents after the killings. He allegedly told them that he had killed six people and was “going to die”. His parents immediately alerted the police.
Police shifted all six bodies to a hospital for post-mortem examination. Raj Kumar remains absconding, and search operations are continuing. Tarun Joshi said the seven special teams were working to trace and arrest him. He added that the killing of the suspect’s wife and two children had also shocked the police.
