Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, Rural Water Supply, Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka reviewed Godavari flood relief measures in Mangapet. She inspected the flood situation and visited a rehabilitation centre at the Zilla Parishad High School.
District Collector Borkhade Hemant Sahadeo Rao, Superintendent of Police Sudheer Ramnath Kekan and ITDA Project Officer Lenin Vassal Toppo accompanied the Minister. She also interacted with flood-affected families and assured them of the government’s support.
Seethakka inspected the progress of the Godavari embankment works. Meanwhile, she reviewed the facilities provided at rehabilitation centres. A total of 112 people from 28 families shifted there because of the backwater effect.
Godavari flood relief measures intensified
The Minister said heavy rainfall in the upstream areas had increased the Godavari’s flood discharge. Therefore, she warned that floodwaters could enter low-lying areas. She urged people to remain alert. She also directed officials to stay accessible and speed up relief operations.
Further, Seethakka instructed officials to provide food, drinking water, medical care and sanitation facilities at all rehabilitation centres. She also directed them to ensure every displaced family received the required assistance.
The Minister assured flood victims that the government would build permanent houses for affected families. Finally, she urged people not to panic and assured them of the government’s continued support.
Library Authority Chairman Banothu Ravichander, Market Committee Chairperson Rega Kalyani, RDO Krishnaveni, Tahsildar Thota Ravinder, public representatives and officials accompanied the Minister during the visit.
