Seethakka launches child welfare initiatives in Kachiguda

Hyderabad: Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka on Thursday launched a series of child welfare initiatives in Kachiguda, including an Adoption Helping Desk, a Foster Care Center, and a Breastfeeding Kiosk.

She inaugurated the Adoption Helping Desk and Foster Care Center at Kachiguda Railway Station. She also opened a Breastfeeding Kiosk at Kachiguda Bus Station. The programme was attended by Amberpet MLA Kaleru Venkatesh, Collector Priyanka Ala, Women and Child Welfare Secretary Anita Ramachandran, Director Shruti Ojha, and other officials.

Seethakka said the child welfare initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to dignity for mothers and security for families. She stated that “a child’s smile is the true measure of development.”

Child welfare initiatives focus on adoption and foster care

The Minister said the Adoption Helping Desk will support children without family care. It will provide legal guidance, counselling, and accurate information. She clarified that adoption is not charity but a new beginning for a child.

She also warned that authorities would act strictly against illegal adoptions. Therefore, officials will monitor all processes closely.

Highlighting the Foster Care Center, she said not every child finds a permanent family immediately. However, a temporary caring environment remains essential. She added that foster care can offer hope and stability.

Child welfare initiatives ensure dignity for mothers

Seethakka said the Breastfeeding Kiosk will provide privacy and dignity to mothers in public places. She noted that setting up such facilities in busy locations marks a significant step. Moreover, the government plans to expand similar kiosks to other areas.

She stated that these initiatives are being introduced for the first time in the state. In addition, the government is focusing on children’s mental health.

In partnership with the Roshni Center, authorities are providing counselling and therapy services. These services aim to improve children’s confidence and well-being.

The Minister said the child welfare initiatives form part of the government’s 99-Day Action Plan. She added that small efforts can create lasting impact. “When we work together for a child’s smile, that is true development,” she said.
