Sarpanches must prioritise public service, says Seethakka at Mulugu rally

Hyderabad: Telangana Minister for Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, and Women and Child Welfare Danasari Anasuya Seethakka on Friday urged newly elected sarpanches to prioritise public service and focus on infrastructure and welfare delivery.

She addressed a felicitation event held at the Rythu Vedika in Kothaguda mandal. The ceremony celebrated sarpanches, deputy sarpanches, and ward members from Kothaguda and Gangaram mandals. The event began with a victory rally, after which Seethakka honoured the winners with shawls.

The minister said sarpanches play a crucial role in village governance. Therefore, they must give special attention to drinking water, roads, sanitation, and electricity in every village.

Seethakka said the people’s trust was her true strength. She described Kothaguda and Gangaram as strongholds of her Mulugu constituency. “You are like the pupil of my eye,” she told residents. She also promised to stand by them at all times.

She called on all elected representatives to set aside party affiliations. According to her, collective effort is essential for village development. She urged sarpanches to stay accessible to the public and ensure welfare schemes reach all eligible families.

Several Congress leaders also attended the event. Among them were State Youth Secretary Kunja Surya, District Congress President Paidakula Ashok, and Rural Director Challa Narayana Reddy. Mandal Congress leaders Vajja Sarayya and Jadi Venkateshwarlu were present, along with Block Congress President Sunkaraboyina Mogili and District General Secretary Roop Singh. Others included Mandal Secretary Bitla Srinivas, former ZPTC Pulasam Pushpalatha Srinivas, former MPTC Halavath Suresh, and local leaders Mallala Randhir, Ranjith, Prashanth, and Venu. Several newly elected sarpanches and village-level representatives also participated.
