Hyderabad: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) under South Central Railway rescued 120 children during April 2026 under Operation Nanhe Farishte, a nationwide initiative aimed at protecting children found separated from families or in distress during railway travel.
Officials said the rescued children included 96 boys and 24 girls. All the children were later handed over to Child Welfare Committees for further care and rehabilitation.
The RPF also reported significant achievements under several security and anti-crime operations conducted across the railway network during April.
Under “Operation Yatri Suraksha”, officials arrested 79 offenders and recovered stolen property worth Rs 54.52 lakh. “Operation Amanat” helped authorities return lost passenger belongings valued at Rs 83.35 lakh to 319 passengers.
Operation Nanhe Farishte part of wider RPF drive
The RPF stated that “Operation Narcos” resulted in the seizure of ganja worth Rs 86.17 lakh and the arrest of 16 persons involved in narcotics transportation.
Under “Operation AAHT”, officials rescued five boys from human trafficking and arrested two alleged traffickers.
Authorities also seized illegal liquor worth Rs 2.47 lakh transported through trains during “Operation Satark”.
Officials said “Operation Uplabdh” led to 24 cases against railway ticket touts and the arrest of 26 persons.
The RPF further stated that CCTV surveillance helped recover stolen passenger property worth Rs 26.65 lakh. Under “Operation Rail Suraksha”, officials detected 36 cases involving theft of railway property worth Rs 6.03 lakh.
