RPF Secunderabad returns lost valuables worth ₹2.24 crore in six months

Hyderabad: The Railway Protection Force (RPF), Secunderabad Division, returned lost passenger belongings worth more than ₹2.24 crore under RPF Operation Amanat during the first six months of 2026.

According to the RPF, officials restored valuables worth ₹2,24,12,510 to passengers in 658 cases between January and June 2026.

RPF Operation Amanat recovers valuables

The force said it had resolved 2,747 cases since January 2024 and recovered lost property valued at more than ₹7.28 crore.

Recovered items included luggage, jewellery, electronic gadgets, cash and important personal documents. Officials said the operation used CCTV surveillance, reservation records and strict verification procedures to trace owners and return their belongings.

Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Alakunta Naveen Kumar said the initiative reflected the RPF’s commitment to passenger service. He noted that misplaced bags often contained valuable savings and important documents.

RPF Operation Amanat advises passengers

The RPF advised passengers who lose belongings during rail travel to immediately contact the railway helpline 139 or inform the nearest RPF post or railway station staff.

Officials also asked passengers to provide details such as the train number, coach number and description of the missing item to speed up the recovery process.
