Hyderabad: Anti-Corruption Bureau officials caught a panchayat secretary in Rangareddy district while allegedly accepting a ₹20,000 bribe for processing official documents.
According to ACB officials, M Sharath Kumar worked as panchayat secretary at Veljal village in Talakondapally mandal. Officials said he initially demanded ₹30,000 from the complainant before reducing the amount to ₹20,000.
Investigators alleged that the official sought the bribe for uploading the complainant’s site details online and issuing a No Objection Certificate along with a Property Valuation Certificate.
Panchayat secretary trapped during ACB operation
The ACB conducted a trap operation and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the money. Officials later recovered the ₹20,000 bribe amount from him.
After the arrest, ACB officials initiated legal proceedings and prepared to produce the accused before the court.
The bureau urged citizens to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be submitted through WhatsApp, Facebook and the official ACB website.
ACB officials assured that the identities of complainants and victims would remain confidential during investigations.
