Hyderabad: A Panchayat Secretary in Khammam district was caught by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a ₹25,000 bribe for processing building permission and issuing a house number, officials said.
The accused, Thammisetty Suresh, was serving as Panchayat Secretary of Bhanapuram Gram Panchayat in Mudigonda Mandal. According to the ACB, he allegedly demanded the bribe from a complainant for processing permission for a one-room sheet-roofed house under construction in Bhanapuram village.

The ACB conducted a trap operation and caught the official while he was allegedly accepting the bribe. Officials recovered the tainted cash from his possession.
The bureau alleged that the Panchayat Secretary misused his official position to obtain an undue advantage. He was arrested and is being produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Warangal.
The ACB withheld the complainant’s identity for security reasons. Further investigation into the case is underway.
