Online betting debts linked to youth suicide in Gandrapally

Hyderabad: A 30-year-old man died by suicide at Gandrapally village in Jammikunta mandal after reportedly facing severe financial stress from online betting debts and credit card liabilities.

Police identified the deceased as Lingampalli Pradeep Rao, a resident of Gandrapally. He had completed his BTech and had been staying at home. According to available information, Pradeep had been using online betting apps for some time. He had also reportedly accumulated substantial debts through various credit cards.

The growing financial burden caused him severe mental stress as he struggled to repay the money, according to the account of the incident. Pradeep reportedly accumulated online betting debts while using different betting applications.

In addition, he borrowed substantial amounts through multiple credit cards. However, he struggled to repay the accumulated liabilities. The financial pressure reportedly affected him mentally.

The incident occurred when other family members were away from the house. Pradeep died by suicide in his room. His family members later lodged a complaint with police. Following the complaint, Jammikunta Circle Inspector Ramakrishna Goud registered a case.

Police began investigating the circumstances surrounding Pradeep’s death. Investigators were also examining the information about his online betting debts and credit card liabilities.

The available account linked his financial distress to his use of online betting applications and mounting debt. However, police continued their investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.

Pradeep was 30 and had completed a BTech before staying at his family home in Gandrapally. Jammikunta police registered the case based on the family’s complaint and continued the investigation.
