Hyderabad: Neredmet Police solved a murder case and arrested a man accused of concealing a body beneath the kitchen platform of a rented house in Neredmet. Police registered the case under Crime No. 350/2026 under Sections 103(1) and 238(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Police identified the accused as Gavvala Mallesh, 47, a plumber living in J.K. Colony, Neredmet. The deceased was identified as Kanchi Venkat Ramulu, 47, a labourer residing in Moula Ali.
Investigators said the accused lived alone after separating from his family. Police also said he had earlier faced a criminal case and spent time in judicial custody in a separate matter.
According to police, the accused met the victim at labour addas and both regularly consumed alcohol together. On December 15, 2025, they allegedly met at a labour adda in HB Colony and later went to the accused’s residence after drinking near a wine shop.
Police said an argument broke out during the drinking session after the victim allegedly made insulting remarks about the accused’s personal life.
Neredmet murder case surfaced months after killing
Investigators said the accused attacked the victim with a wooden stick in a fit of rage and caused fatal head injuries. Police said the victim died instantly.
After the murder, the accused allegedly tied the victim’s hands, legs and neck with a rope. He then hid the body beneath the kitchen platform and covered it with a brick structure inside the rented house.
Police said the accused fled after foul smell started spreading from the house. Since the victim had limited contact with his family, nobody reported him missing.
The case surfaced on April 17, 2026, when the house owner broke open the locked house after failing to contact the accused for several months. The owner noticed a foul smell and later found skeletal remains beneath the kitchen platform.
Using technical evidence and other information, police traced the accused and arrested him near Jubilee Bus Station on May 1, 2026.
Senior officers of Malkajgiri Zone supervised the investigation. Inspector P. Sandeep Kumar, DI Ch. Srinivas, SI Sai Avinash and the Neredmet Police team carried out the operation.
