Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurates limb fitment camp

Hyderabad: Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated a large-scale limb fitment camp in the city, where hundreds of differently-abled individuals received artificial limbs and mobility support.

The camp, organised by Narayan Seva Sansthan at the Exhibition Grounds on Sunday, provided 815 modular artificial limbs and callipers to 745 beneficiaries. Several recipients were fitted with more than one prosthetic, based on individual requirements.

The initiative was conducted in collaboration with CSR partners, including Make a Change Foundation (UK) and Shree Swaminarayan Temple, Willesden (UK). Officials said over 1,000 people had registered during a prior screening, with 745 selected for assistance.

Addressing the gathering, the Governor described the camp as a significant humanitarian effort. He interacted with beneficiaries and encouraged them during a parade organised at the venue. He said such initiatives highlighted the impact of collective service and compassion.

Limb fitment camp restores mobility to hundreds

Several beneficiaries took their first independent steps after years of immobility during the camp. Some participants attempted basic activities such as playing football or drinking water on their own for the first time since their disability.

T. G. Bharat attended the event and termed the initiative a life-changing effort. He said such programmes helped integrate differently-abled individuals into mainstream society and announced plans to organise a similar camp in his constituency.

According to trustee and director Devendra Choubisa, the organisation used advanced modular prosthetics based on German technology. He added that beneficiaries also received training in usage and maintenance to ensure long-term benefit.

The programme began with a ceremonial lamp lighting and included the felicitation of donors and supporters. Boggur Dayanand was also present and appreciated the initiative.

Founded in 1985 by Kailash Manav, Narayan Seva Sansthan has provided free artificial limbs to over 39,000 individuals. It has also extended medical assistance to more than 4.5 lakh beneficiaries across the country.
