Hyderabad: A Karimnagar jewellery store robbery left four security guards injured after an armed gang opened fire and looted valuables in broad daylight on Sunday.
Police said five assailants carried out the attack at a jewellery store on Jagitial Road and escaped with expensive ornaments. The injured guards were shifted to the hospital, where one remained in critical condition.
Witnesses said the attackers arrived on two motorcycles while staff were displaying jewellery from the safe. They entered the premises with firearms and fired at security personnel when they tried to stop them. The gang then fled with the stolen jewellery.
Officials said four guards sustained gunshot injuries in the incident. Medical teams admitted all victims for treatment, and doctors continued to monitor the condition of the critically injured guard.

Police teams and forensic experts reached the spot soon after the incident. They began collecting evidence and examining CCTV footage from the store and nearby areas to track the suspects.
Investigators said they were exploring multiple angles, including the possible involvement of an interstate gang. They were also checking whether any local support had been provided to the attackers.
Authorities said efforts were underway to identify and apprehend the accused. They added that security measures around jewellery establishments would be reviewed in light of the Karimnagar jewellery store robbery.
