Bandi Sanjay assures arrest in Karimnagar jewellery robbery case

Hyderabad: Bandi Sanjay Kumar said police would apprehend the culprits involved in the Karimnagar jewellery robbery and expressed confidence in the ongoing investigation.

He made the statement after visiting the PMJ jewellery store in Jyothinagar, where armed assailants opened fire on staff during a robbery attempt on Sunday. He said police had immediately launched combing operations across Karimnagar after receiving information about the incident.

The Union Minister said the attack appeared to have been carried out by five miscreants posing as customers. According to him, one person initially entered the store and asked to see a 20-gram gold chain. Soon after, two more individuals joined, followed by two others, before the group collectively attempted the robbery.

He said the suspects spoke in Telugu and Hindi and used firearms to threaten staff. When employees resisted, the attackers opened fire, injuring multiple staff members. He added that the victims were out of danger but would be shifted to Hyderabad for advanced treatment.

Karimnagar jewellery robbery probe focuses on CCTV evidence

Bandi Sanjay said he reviewed CCTV footage at the store and sought details from staff to understand the sequence of events. He also spoke with the Police Commissioner and local officers regarding the progress of the case.

Officials said forensic teams and a clues team had examined the scene. Police were analysing footage from surveillance cameras, including those linked to the command control system, to identify the suspects.

The minister said the attackers had abandoned one bag at the scene during the incident. He added that the exact quantity of stolen gold and jewellery would be determined after a detailed investigation.

He described the incident as unexpected and said the staff showed courage in resisting the attackers despite the risk and reiterated that police would soon trace and arrest those involved in the Karimnagar jewellery robbery.
