Congress condemns Meenakshi Natarajan Rajya Sabha nomination rejection

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud condemned the Meenakshi Natarajan nomination rejection for the Rajya Sabha in Madhya Pradesh and termed it a setback to democratic values.

In a statement on Wednesday, Goud alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was attempting to weaken democratic institutions and suppress opposition voices.

He questioned the neutrality of the Election Commission and demanded a public explanation for the rejection of the nomination.

Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that the incident reflected what he described as a political conspiracy by the BJP.

“This incident represents the height of BJP’s political conspiracies and an attempt to silence opposition voices. After stealing votes, the BJP is now attempting to steal seats as well,” he alleged.

The Congress leader accused the BJP of exerting political pressure and manipulating electoral processes.

Furthermore, he alleged that the ruling party was targeting political opponents through undemocratic means.

According to Goud, disqualifying opposition candidates on technical grounds went against the spirit of democracy.

Mahesh Kumar Goud said the Congress would pursue legal remedies against the decision.

In addition, he said the party would intensify its efforts to protect constitutional institutions.

He called for a comprehensive inquiry into the issue and urged authorities to clarify the circumstances surrounding the Meenakshi Natarajan nomination rejection.

The TPCC chief also appealed to political parties, civil society organisations and intellectuals to unite in defence of democratic values.

He said collective action was necessary to safeguard constitutional institutions and ensure transparency in the electoral process.
