Uttam inaugurates Jakora-Chandur lift irrigation project in Nizamabad

Hyderabad: Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy inaugurated the Jakora-Chandur lift irrigation project in Banswada Assembly constituency of Nizamabad district on Wednesday.

The project was built at a cost of ₹106 crore. It will draw water from Nizam Sagar to provide irrigation support to farmers in the region.

Officials said the scheme would irrigate 4,470 acres across Varni, Chandur and Mosra revenue mandals.

The project will supply water for both Kharif and Rabi crops. In addition, it will help meet the drinking water requirements of several villages.

Jakora-Chandur lift irrigation project to benefit farmers

The Jakora-Chandur lift irrigation project aims to improve water availability in agricultural areas that depend on irrigation support.

The scheme will help farmers cultivate crops during multiple seasons. Consequently, it is expected to strengthen agricultural productivity in the region.

The project will also provide a reliable water source for villages covered under the scheme.

Officials said the initiative would support both irrigation and drinking water needs in the beneficiary areas.

During his visit, Uttam Kumar Reddy also reviewed the ongoing works of the Sidhapur reservoir.

He examined the progress of the project and discussed the status of construction activities with officials.

Zahirabad MP Suresh Kumar Shetkar attended the programme.

Banswada MLA and former Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy was also present.

Irrigation Secretary E. Sridhar joined the event along with other officials.

Local representatives felicitated the minister after the inauguration of the Jakora-Chandur irrigation project.
