Hyderabad: Mangalhat Police arrested rowdy-sheeter Md. Aleem and seized a prohibited knife from him during surveillance on October 2. Police said he had been absconding and was wanted in connection with criminal cases.
The 39-year-old accused was a resident of Allabanda in Mangalhat. Police identified him as a rowdy-sheeter registered at Mangalhat Police Station. According to police, personnel were patrolling and monitoring registered offenders when they spotted Aleem near Shankar Cafe. Police intercepted and searched him. They said officers found a knife concealed on his person.
Following the Mangalhat rowdy-sheeter arrest, police registered a fresh case under relevant provisions of the Arms Act. The case was registered as Crime No. 418/2026 at Mangalhat Police Station. Police subsequently produced Aleem before a court. He was remanded to judicial custody.
Mangalhat rowdy-sheeter arrest follows multiple cases
Police said Aleem had previously figured in several cases registered across Hyderabad police stations. The allegations included murder, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, criminal intimidation, drug offences and illegal possession of arms.
Asif Nagar Police had booked him in a murder case in 2012. Mangalhat Police registered another case against him in 2013 under IPC and Arms Act provisions. In 2014, he was booked in Mangalhat on allegations of extortion and criminal intimidation.
Two kidnapping and extortion cases were registered against him in 2015. Another 2015 case involved allegations of kidnapping for ransom and robbery. Mangalhat Police also registered a criminal intimidation case in 2018. In 2020, he faced another case under the Arms Act for alleged illegal possession of arms.
In 2021, Mangalhat Police booked him under provisions of the NDPS Act in a drug-related case. Police said Banjara Hills Police had also registered Crime No. 555/2026 against him. The case was booked under Sections 308(3), 351(2) read with 3(5) of the BNS.
Sub-Inspector Anjaneyulu and Police Constables Balakrishna and Govind carried out the latest operation, according to the press note. Mangalhat Police said they would continue monitoring habitual offenders and taking legal action against illegal weapon possession and activities affecting public order.
