Mandaviya promises Ramagundam ESI hospital by next year

Hyderabad: Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced that the Ramagundam ESI hospital and the ESI Nursing College at Nacharam will become operational next year. He made the announcement after inaugurating the new Outpatient Department (OPD) Block at the ESIC Hospital in Sanathnagar on Tuesday.

The assurance came in response to a request from Telangana Labour, Employment and Mines Minister Dr G. Vivek Venkatswamy and Peddapalli MP G. Vamshi Krishna. Mandaviya said both projects would receive priority.

Addressing the gathering, Vivek Venkatswamy said the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation had expanded healthcare services for workers under Mandaviya’s leadership. He also recalled visiting the Sanathnagar ESIC Hospital during the tenure of his father, former Union Labour Minister Kaka Venkataswamy.

The Minister said the hospital had added a cardiac care centre, bypass surgery facilities, a modern dialysis unit and advanced cancer treatment services. According to him, these facilities reflected the expansion of ESIC healthcare.

Ramagundam ESI hospital to boost healthcare for workers

Further, Vivek Venkatswamy said ESI services in Telangana now cover around 20 lakh insured persons. They also benefit nearly 80 lakh people, including family members. He urged the Centre to upgrade the ESIC hospitals at Ramachandrapuram and Nacharam. He said the move would reduce the patient load on the Sanathnagar hospital.

Highlighting Ramagundam’s industrial importance, the Minister said the region needed a dedicated 100-bed ESIC hospital. According to him, it would provide quality healthcare to thousands of industrial workers.

He noted that the project had already received approval. However, the tender process had stalled. He requested the Centre to revive it without delay.

Responding to the request, Mandaviya said the Centre would expedite construction of the Ramagundam ESI hospital. He said the facility would become operational next year.
