Hyderabad: BJP Legislature Party leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy accused the Congress government of using Section 22-A land restrictions to harass and extort property owners across Telangana.
He made the allegations while addressing the BJP’s “Maha Deeksha” at Dharna Chowk on Saturday.
Maheshwar Reddy alleged that the government had only renamed the earlier Dharani system as Bhu Bharathi. He claimed the change had not resolved problems facing farmers and property owners.
According to the BJP leader, authorities had placed large areas of land on the prohibited list under Section 22-A.
He said the restrictions affected residential properties, agricultural lands and approved layouts.
Maheshwar Reddy alleged that genuine owners could neither sell their properties nor secure loans against them.
Section 22-A land restrictions trigger audit demand
Maheshwar Reddy demanded an immediate forensic audit of the Revenue Department’s portal.
He sought details of officials who added properties to the Section 22-A list. He also demanded records showing which officials removed properties from the list.
Furthermore, the BJP leader sought a White Paper on the entire process.
He demanded a CBI inquiry into alleged land irregularities. In addition, he called for investigations into corruption allegations involving previous and present governments.
Maheshwar Reddy also accused the Congress government of suppressing democratic protests.
He said the BJP would continue its campaign until authorities restored lands allegedly placed under Section 22-A restrictions without valid justification.
BJP promises continued campaign for affected owners
The BJP leader said the party would continue to support people affected by the restrictions.
He concluded his deeksha after accepting lemon juice from a farmer whom the BJP identified as a victim of the Section 22-A restrictions.
Maheshwar Reddy assured affected property owners that the BJP would continue its fight on their behalf.
The BJP’s campaign focused on lands included in the prohibited list and the problems faced by their owners across Telangana.
