Hyderabad: IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu and NITI Aayog Member Dr V.K. Saraswat discussed a phased roadmap for the Silicon Photonics Mission on Sunday.
Saraswat called on Sridhar Babu at the Secretariat in Hyderabad. During the meeting, the two discussed the Telangana initiative and the strategy required for its phased implementation.
They also reviewed the future course of action for the Photonics Valley Corporation. Moreover, the talks covered ways to align the State initiative with the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0.
Officials said the discussions focused on building a comprehensive silicon photonics ecosystem in Telangana. The proposed approach would cover the full value chain, from research and development to commercial-scale manufacturing.
Silicon Photonics Mission to cover entire value chain
Sridhar Babu and Saraswat discussed steps required to develop the ecosystem across different stages of the technology value chain. Research and development formed one part of the discussions. In addition, the meeting considered the requirements for taking technologies towards commercial-scale manufacturing.
The two also discussed advanced technologies related to the emerging photonics and semiconductor sectors. These included photonics packaging and co-packaged optics. Meanwhile, the discussions examined how the Photonics Valley Corporation could fit into the State’s future strategy.
The Silicon Photonics Mission roadmap also focused on coordination with the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0. The talks considered alignment between the State initiative and the national semiconductor programme.
Officials said the broader discussions centred on strengthening Telangana’s position in the emerging photonics and semiconductor sectors.
