Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud criticised Pawan Kalyan remarks on Telangana and the Congress party, alleging that the Jana Sena chief was following a political script prepared by BJP leaders.
Addressing the issue on Monday, Mahesh Goud claimed there was a political conspiracy behind the statements made by the Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister.
He alleged that Pawan Kalyan was repeating positions advanced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other BJP leaders.
Pawan Kalyan remarks spark political criticism
Mahesh Goud said politics required responsibility and could not be treated like a film set.
He accused Pawan Kalyan of making statements without recognising the historical context of Telangana’s formation.
The TPCC chief recalled that Pawan Kalyan had opposed the creation of Telangana.
He said the Congress, under the leadership of Sonia Gandhi, fulfilled the long-standing demand for a separate state.
Furthermore, Mahesh Goud questioned Pawan Kalyan’s role during the Telangana movement.
He alleged that the Jana Sena leader had ignored the sacrifices made by Telangana youth during the statehood struggle.
The Congress leader also claimed that BJP leaders had made similar comments about Telangana in the past.
Pawan Kalyan remarks linked to BJP and BRS
Mahesh Goud credited previous Congress governments with laying the foundation for India’s space sector.
Therefore, he argued that criticism of the Congress could not be reduced to political rhetoric.
He also noted that audiences in Telangana had contributed significantly to Pawan Kalyan’s success as a film actor.
As a result, he advised the Jana Sena chief to focus on governance issues in Andhra Pradesh.
Referring to the reaction of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Mahesh Goud alleged that the party’s silence was noteworthy.
He claimed the lack of response suggested an understanding among the BJP, BRS and Jana Sena leadership.
Pawan Kalyan remarks should not affect Telangana relations
Mahesh Goud stressed the importance of maintaining cordial relations between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
However, he said political leaders should avoid making provocative statements for electoral gains.
According to him, such remarks could create unnecessary political tensions between the two states.
The TPCC chief also asserted that Telangana’s development and welfare programmes had become a model for neighbouring states.
He said leaders should focus on constructive politics rather than making controversial statements.
The controversy over Pawan Kalyan remarks has added a fresh political dimension to the ongoing exchanges between parties in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
