Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Tuesday accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of having “zero understanding” of river water management and branded Telangana’s irrigation ministers as “dangerously ignorant” of critical issues.
Speaking at a felicitation event for newly elected sarpanches, deputy sarpanches, and ward members in Nalgonda, KTR said the Congress government was using diversionary tactics to avoid answering key questions raised by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on irrigation and governance.
“The Chief Minister is both the Home Minister and the head of government. If he has courage, let him come before the media and declare what cases he plans to file. These anonymous leaks and behind-the-scenes stories are signs of weakness,” KTR said.
KTR: Congress blocking key irrigation projects
KTR sharply criticised the Congress government’s handling of Krishna river water disputes. He accused the administration of failing to protect Telangana’s share and of deliberately obstructing the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme. “BRS completed 90% of the project, yet Congress wasted two years and failed to finish the remaining 10%,” he said.
He also alleged that the government’s failure to submit Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and efforts to scale down the project amounted to betrayal. Referring to ministers’ recent statements, he said their public admissions of unpreparedness exposed their disconnect from farmers and the seriousness of water issues.
KTR challenged the Congress to hold cooperative society elections if it believed it had support among farmers. He claimed the government was avoiding elections out of fear and was instead appointing nominated members. “If elections are held, farmers will deliver a strong message,” he said.

‘BRS will not bow to threats or intimidation’
The BRS leader accused the government of abandoning major welfare promises, including Rythu Bandhu for tenant farmers and financial support to agricultural labourers. He said the Congress was leaking false cases against KCR to distract from these failures.
Calling on party members to stay focused, KTR said the BRS would continue confronting the government on its “420 promises.” He declared that the party would not yield to threats or intimidation and would keep fighting until Telangana farmers receive justice.
