KTR accuses Revanth Reddy of evading debate on State borrowings

Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of avoiding a public debate on State borrowings after initially throwing the challenge. He alleged that the Congress government changed the venue after the BRS accepted the invitation for a discussion.

Addressing reporters at Telangana Bhavan, KTR said the Chief Minister remained silent after issuing the challenge. He claimed Minister Jupally Krishna Rao had announced that he would come to Telangana Bhavan for the discussion. However, KTR alleged that the venue was later shifted to Gun Park.

State borrowings row intensifies

KTR questioned why Jupally Krishna Rao did not come to Telangana Bhavan as announced. He said repeatedly changing the venue showed that the Congress government was unwilling to face a public discussion.

Meanwhile, KTR criticised the police for stopping Harish Rao and other BRS leaders while they were heading to Gun Park. He questioned who had ordered the detentions and alleged that the government used the police to prevent the debate.

Further, KTR claimed the Congress government lacked the courage to discuss key public issues. He also alleged that an IAS officer had resigned because of internal issues in the government. Referring to Hyderabad’s housing programme, he said the previous BRS government had constructed one lakh houses and challenged the Congress to match that achievement.

Additionally, KTR urged Jupally Krishna Rao to remain at Gun Park if he was serious about the discussion. He demanded the immediate release of Harish Rao and other detained BRS leaders.

Finally, KTR challenged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to convene a special session of the Telangana Assembly to debate the present government’s borrowings and the allegations concerning Gurukul institutions. He urged the Speaker to allow an unrestricted discussion on both issues.
