Hyderabad: BRS Working President KTR demanded the immediate removal of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay from the Union Cabinet following the arrest of his son Bhagirath in a POCSO case.
KTR made the remarks during the ‘Na Booth-Na Vishva’ programme held in LB Nagar on Sunday. He alleged that the government failed to respond seriously when injustice was done to a girl in the state.
The BRS leader accused both the Congress and BJP of attempting to weaken the case and claimed that only the BRS fought to secure justice for the victim. He also alleged that law and order in Telangana had deteriorated completely over the past two and a half years.
KTR criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao” slogan and said it remained limited to words. He further stated that it was probably the first instance in the country where a lookout circular had been issued against the son of a Union Minister.
KTR questions probe amid Bandi Sanjay removal demand
KTR expressed doubts over the fairness of the investigation if Bandi Sanjay continued as Union Minister. He alleged that the minister had hidden the accused for nearly nine days after the case surfaced.
He further claimed that attempts were made to dilute the case by intimidating the victim’s parents. According to KTR, allowing such individuals to continue in high office was a disgrace to both Telangana and the country.
The BRS leader demanded strict action and said the investigation should proceed without political influence. However, there was no immediate response from Bandi Sanjay or the BJP regarding the allegations made by KTR.
