Yadadri thermal plant fire damages control cables

Hyderabad: A fire broke out at the under-construction Yadadri Ultra Mega Thermal Power Station in Nalgonda district on Sunday after an oil leakage in Unit-3, damaging control cables and valves in the turbine-driven boiler feed pump area.

Officials said the fire erupted suddenly near the pump section of the plant, triggering panic among engineers and workers present at the site. Preliminary findings suggested that leaked lubrication oil caught fire and caused the flames to spread rapidly across the area.

Thick black smoke engulfed parts of the power station as the fire intensified. Sources said control cables and several important valves in the affected section suffered extensive damage due to the blaze.
