Hyderabad: Telangana October rainfall was likely to remain below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department’s latest outlook. The department also projected warmer-than-normal day and night temperatures across the state.
The IMD said significant rainfall was not expected during October. As a result, conditions during the month could feel unusually warm despite the normal seasonal cooling. The department linked the outlook to changes in ocean and atmospheric conditions. It said strong El Niño conditions prevailed over the equatorial Pacific Ocean.
Further, officials expected those El Niño conditions to strengthen towards the end of the year. The weather pattern could influence rainfall and temperature trends over the coming months. Meanwhile, the IMD said neutral Indian Ocean Dipole conditions prevailed over the Indian Ocean. It expected those conditions to continue through the Northeast Monsoon season.
Telangana October rainfall affected by ocean conditions
The IMD said these conditions could keep Telangana October rainfall below normal. It also indicated that rainfall during the October-December period could remain below normal. That period covers the early winter months and overlaps with the Northeast Monsoon season. Therefore, the department expected rainfall conditions to stay weaker than usual.
The outlook also pointed to higher temperatures across Telangana. The IMD said both maximum and minimum temperatures could remain above normal during October. As a result, parts of the state could experience stronger heat than usually expected at this time of year. The department indicated that October could feel more like summer in some periods.
The Telangana October rainfall outlook therefore combined two concerns: weaker rain and higher temperatures. Both trends were linked to the prevailing large-scale ocean and atmospheric patterns. The IMD said it would continue monitoring the changing conditions as the season progressed.
