KTR accuses Telangana government of failing farmers over Rythu Bharosa

Hyderabad: BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) on Tuesday criticised the Telangana government over Rythu Bharosa, alleging that it had failed to provide timely financial assistance to farmers. In a post on X, he accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of using public meetings to divert attention from the issue.

KTR alleged that the government had withheld nearly ₹30,000 crore in Rythu Bharosa assistance during its 30 months in office. He claimed farmers across the State were unhappy with the government’s handling of the scheme.

The BRS leader questioned the need for a public meeting to release the assistance. He alleged that the government had failed to credit funds on four occasions despite its promises.

KTR also accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil its poll promise of providing ₹15,000 per acre annually to farmers. According to the BRS leader, the government released assistance only to a section of farmers with one or two acres.

Further, KTR alleged that the government had not implemented its promise of waiving farm loans of up to ₹2 lakh. He claimed the money spent on public meetings and official visits could have supported farmers instead.

Meanwhile, he alleged that farmers across Telangana were struggling to obtain urea. KTR also criticised the government’s handling of crop procurement.

Referring to the previous BRS government, he claimed that K. Chandrashekar Rao had transferred ₹73,000 crore directly into farmers’ bank accounts through 11 instalments. KTR alleged that the Congress government had weakened the agriculture sector and failed to protect farmers’ interests.
