Hyderabad: BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday accused the Congress government of hypocrisy over the Formula-E controversy. He questioned why ministers were meeting Greenko officials in Davos while calling the firm part of a “scam” in Hyderabad. The Congress Greenko Formula-E issue has become a central point of discussion in the state.
Addressing reporters at Telangana Bhavan, KTR asked whether secret deals were being struck abroad with the same company Congress leaders had earlier accused of wrongdoing. “If Greenko was involved in a scam here, what are ministers doing with them at the World Economic Forum?” he asked. He demanded full transparency regarding all matters connected to Congress Greenko Formula-E meetings abroad.
BRS questions motive behind Davos meetings, warns of poll backlash
He alleged that Congress may be pressuring the company to extract money. Alternatively, they could be attempting to shield it by cutting backdoor deals. KTR also raised concerns over Telangana ministers meeting other individuals in Davos, including a BJP MP from Andhra Pradesh. He called these meetings “questionable.” The Congress Greenko Formula-E situation appears to be fueling speculation within political circles.
On the upcoming municipal elections, KTR said the BRS would appoint local in-charges and select candidates based on grassroots surveys. He warned voters that choosing Congress would effectively endorse its plans to undo the formation of new districts. This move has sparked public anxiety. Moreover, the Congress Greenko Formula-E matter could further intensify voter concerns.
KTR claimed that BRS performed strongly in the recent panchayat elections, securing nearly 40 percent of sarpanch seats. He said the party’s ‘Basti Bata’ outreach is exposing stalled development projects and unfulfilled promises by the Congress government.
Criticising the proposed ‘Future City’ project, KTR said the Congress was pushing a “futuristic illusion.” Meanwhile, they are ignoring pressing civic issues in Hyderabad and Secunderabad, where residents are already staging protests.
He also reiterated BRS’s demand for a judicial probe into irregularities in Singareni Collieries. He said the party welcomed an inquiry covering the period since 2014. KTR questioned why Congress ministers remained silent on new rules affecting the coal sector.
