Hyderabad: BRS working president and former minister K.T. Rama Rao appeared before the Nampally court on Friday in connection with the Formula E case. The appearance came after the court took cognisance of the charge sheet.
KTR left his Kokapet residence in the morning and proceeded directly to the court. Afterward, he was scheduled to travel to Narsampet, according to party sources. He was expected to attend former MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy’s funeral there at 11.30 am.
Formula E case hearing draws KTR response
Meanwhile, KTR criticised the Congress government in a Facebook post after reaching the court. He alleged that the government had falsely implicated him in the Formula E case.
“I have come to the Nampally court to attend the hearing in the illegally fabricated Formula E case filed against me by the Congress government. Such false cases cannot stop our fight on behalf of the people. Ultimately, truth will prevail,” he said.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau registered the case in December 2024. The agency alleged that officials transferred ₹55 crore to the UK-based Formula E Organisation in violation of prescribed rules.
Subsequently, the ACB conducted an investigation lasting nearly 15 months. Then, it filed a charge sheet before the court in March this year. Following this, the court took cognisance of the charge sheet and summoned the accused. Friday’s hearing marked their first court appearance after that development.
The ACB also alleged that KTR directed the State government to assume responsibility for the race. Earlier, race sponsor Ace Next Gen had withdrawn from the event.
Moreover, the agency named former MAUD Special Chief Secretary Arvind Kumar as an accused. It also named former HMDA Chief Engineer B.L.N. Reddy in the Formula E case. FEO representative Alberto Longo and Ace Next Gen Director Kiran Rao were also named as accused.
