Hyderabad: The Telangana government has initiated the CURE 3D master plan to guide Hyderabad’s urban development until 2050. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has invited Request for Proposal (RFP) bids to prepare the plan, while the bid submission deadline ends on Friday.
The government has prioritised the Core Urban Region Economy (CURE) and plans to introduce a separate law along with a dedicated master plan for the region. Officials decided to adopt a 3D planning model in view of rapid real estate growth and the increasing number of high-rise buildings.
HMDA recently conducted a pre-bid meeting for prospective agencies. The authority will use advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, satellite imagery, Google Maps and Geographic Information System (GIS) tools to prepare the master plan.
Officials said the digital platform would accurately map land conditions and support long-term infrastructure planning. The plan will help identify residential, commercial, industrial, green and transport zones while accommodating Hyderabad’s future expansion.
CURE 3D master plan to use GIS and AI mapping
The CURE 3D master plan will create a detailed three-dimensional representation of the urban region. Officials expect the system to improve planning decisions and streamline development across more than 100 land-use zones.
The government also plans to prepare a GIS-based geospatial base map covering the HMDA area, the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) and the Yadagirigutta Temple Development Authority (YTDA). HMDA included this component in the same RFP issued for the master plan.
Officials said the digital mapping system could simplify online building permission and No Objection Certificate (NOC) processes. They added that the technology would strengthen urban governance and support Hyderabad’s long-term infrastructure needs through 2050.
