Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Sunday lashed out at the Congress government in Telangana, accusing it of betraying voters with unfulfilled promises. At the same time, he praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Mann Ki Baat program.
Reddy watched the broadcast along with residents of Borabanda division. He noted that Modi’s monthly address has continued without interruption, covering issues of development, culture, sports and infrastructure. “Like no one else, the Prime Minister interacts with people every month and sends a clear message,” he said. Moreover, he pointed out that Modi once again stressed the importance of Swachh Bharat, calling for clean slums, cities and villages.
Kishan Reddy targets Congress over unfulfilled promises
The Union Minister reminded that Modi’s first initiative as Prime Minister was Swachh Bharat. Through it, crores of toilets were built, restoring dignity to women. He also recalled the 1948 police action led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel that merged Hyderabad with India. Modi, he said, acknowledged Patel’s role during Mann Ki Baat.
Reddy announced that Hyderabad Liberation Day would be celebrated on September 17 at Secunderabad Parade Grounds, with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in attendance. On the same day, Telangana will also observe Vishwakarma Diwas as National Labour Day, which coincides with Modi’s birthday.
Shifting focus, Reddy hailed Modi’s rise from a poor family to become India’s first BC Prime Minister. He condemned Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, for making what he described as “inhuman remarks” about Modi’s late mother. “People should reject such leaders,” he said.
Turning back to state politics, Reddy alleged that Congress had failed to honour even one major election promise. He cited the Mahalaxmi scheme, which pledged ₹2,500 a month to women, but said not a single payment had been made in two years. He further accused Rahul Gandhi and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of “looting thousands of crores.”
