Drunken brawl between cousins ends in murder in Borabanda

Hyderabad: A late-night quarrel under the influence of alcohol between two cousins ended in murder early Tuesday in Indiranagar under the Borabanda limits.

The victim, 30-year-old Basavaraj, and his cousin Premraj had consumed alcohol together on Monday in Parvathi Nagar. During the drinking session, an argument broke out between the two.

Though they returned home and went to sleep, Premraj reportedly woke up in the early hours of Tuesday, determined to kill Basavaraj over the prior dispute. Using a stone he had procured earlier, he struck Basavaraj on the head while he was asleep.

Basavaraj sustained severe injuries and fell unconscious. Family members rushed him to hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead.

Borabanda police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
