Hyderabad: Officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Tuesday conducted awareness rallies across all circles of the city to discourage open urination and promote the use of public toilets.
As part of the drive, GHMC officials worked alongside frontline sanitation workers. They directly engaged with citizens at busy junctions and residential areas. Through these interactions, they explained how sanitation affected public health and daily hygiene.
GHMC awareness rallies focus on hygiene and civic duty
According to GHMC officials, the rallies aimed to protect public health and uphold dignity, especially for women and vulnerable groups. At the same time, officials stressed the need to keep roads, markets, and public spaces clean.
Therefore, the civic body urged citizens to use nearby public toilets and community facilities. In addition, officials appealed to residents to avoid open urination, which they said harmed hygiene and safety.
Moreover, GHMC asked people to encourage children, family members, and co-workers to adopt clean habits. Officials also called on citizens to respect public infrastructure so that everyone could use it safely.
Meanwhile, GHMC officials said public cooperation remained vital for the success of cleanliness campaigns. Hence, they urged residents to spread awareness in their localities and support sanitation workers.
Finally, the civic body said the campaign aligned with the Swachh Bharat mission. Officials added that consistent clean habits would help create a healthier and more livable Hyderabad.
