Hyderabad: GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan asked zonal and deputy commissioners to strictly implement sanitation works and help make Greater Hyderabad a clean city.
He also instructed engineers from the Solid Waste Management wing to closely monitor daily cleaning activities. According to him, all sanitation works must follow a clear plan and show visible results on the ground.
Meanwhile, as part of the special GHMC sanitation drive, officials carried out large-scale cleaning works across the city for the third consecutive day. Teams cleaned both sides of roads, dividers, central medians and kerbs.
GHMC sanitation drive reviewed during field inspection
During field visits, the commissioner reviewed sanitation works in the Shamshabad zonal limits. He inspected cleaning activities in Adibatla, Kongara Kalan and Bongulur. At the same time, he interacted with officials and workers at the site.
Earlier, on the first day of the drive, GHMC teams cleaned foot overbridges across the city. On the second day, they focused on flyovers. As a result, officials said the drive was progressing as planned.
Speaking during the inspection, Karnan said sanitation standards must improve further. Therefore, he directed zonal and deputy commissioners to personally supervise works on a daily basis.
In the coming days, GHMC will clean lakes, drains, footpaths and parks. In addition, officials will remove construction and demolition waste. They will also clear garbage near transformers and electric poles as per schedule.
Zonal Commissioner Chandrakala and other senior officials accompanied the commissioner during the inspection.
