Kishan Reddy hits out at Congress, BRS, AIMIM over delimitation row

Hyderabad: Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy hit out at Congress, BRS and AIMIM over delimitation claims, accusing them of misleading the public in Telangana.

Speaking to the media in Delhi, he alleged that opposition leaders were spreading false narratives on the issue. According to him, they were attempting to create a “North versus South” divide by claiming injustice to southern states.

He asserted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi ensures equal treatment to all states. Moreover, population-based seat allocation would not reduce the importance of southern states, he added.

Delimitation claims include projected increase in Lok Sabha seats

Kishan Reddy cited figures to explain the proposed changes. He noted that Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh may increase from 25 to 38, Telangana from 17 to 26, and Tamil Nadu from 39 to 59.

Meanwhile, he also targeted opposition parties over the Women’s Reservation Bill. He alleged that AIMIM opposes the bill out of fear of losing seats, while Congress and BRS were supporting that stance.

The Union Minister further criticised the hybrid formula suggested by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He claimed that AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi influenced the proposal.

Questioning the demand for increasing seats based on revenue generation in Hyderabad, he said linking vote value to wealth contradicts democratic principles.

Kishan Reddy also accused opposition parties of obstructing women’s leadership. He alleged that AIMIM had become a centre for politics that suppress women, while other parties were backing such positions.
