Hyderabad: Union Minister for Coal and Mines G Kishan Reddy said the Aushadhi Express would strengthen Hyderabad’s pharmaceutical ecosystem through improved cold-chain logistics.
In a post on X, Kishan Reddy said the refrigerated container rake operates from ICD Sanathnagar to JNPT Mumbai. The service transports life-saving medicines under temperature-controlled conditions.
According to the minister, the project would reduce transit time and lower logistics costs. He also said the service would minimise wastage during transportation.
The Union minister stated that the project would improve export reliability for pharma clusters in Genome Valley, Jeedimetla, Patancheru and Mucherla.
Aushadhi Express operations set to expand
Kishan Reddy said the service currently operates once every week. However, authorities plan to increase operations to two rakes per week because of rising demand.
He stated that the initiative reflected integrated planning and infrastructure development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
According to the minister, such projects were accelerating regional growth and strengthening India’s position as a global pharmaceutical manufacturing hub.
