Hyderabad: The India Meteorological Department issued a rain alert for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh and predicted rainfall activity across the two states for the next three days.
According to officials, a trough formed from Karnataka across Telangana and Rayalaseema. The weather system is likely to trigger rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds in several districts.
The department forecast thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds in Jogulamba Gadwal, erstwhile Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, Nalgonda, Medak, Khammam and Nizamabad districts.
Rain alert issued for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh
In Andhra Pradesh, the weather department predicted rainfall in the coastal and Rayalaseema regions over the next few days.
Officials said North Coastal Andhra, South Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema could witness thundershowers at several places.
The department also forecast light to moderate rainfall in parts of Rayalaseema during the period.
Meteorological Department officials advised people to remain cautious during thunderstorms and lightning activity.
Authorities also asked farmers to take precautions to protect crops from possible rain and wind damage.
