Hyderabad: The Mercedes-Benz robbery case in Keesara led to the arrest of five men who allegedly lured two people to a farmhouse to buy a car.
The accused allegedly threatened the victims with a pistol and knife. Police said they also attacked them with an iron rod, tube light and stick.
According to police, the accused approached Mohammed Ibrahim Ali. They claimed they wanted to buy his Benz car.
On the 30th of this month, they brought Ibrahim and his friend Mohammed Rafe Hashmi to a farmhouse. The location was near Holy Mary College in the Keesara police station limits.
After the two men arrived, the accused allegedly threatened them with weapons. They then took cash, an iPhone and a gold chain.
The accused also took Tissot and Casio watches. They allegedly drove away with the Mercedes-Benz car.
Later, the five men forced both victims into their vehicle. They eventually left them near the Nagaram traffic signal at night, police said.
Mercedes-Benz robbery probe led to arrests at Bogaram
The accused allegedly continued to threaten Ibrahim after the Mercedes-Benz robbery. On the 11th, A1 reportedly called him at 8.53 pm.
The caller threatened to post personal photographs from Ibrahim’s mobile phone on social media. He then demanded Rs 1.50 lakh, police said.
Following the complaint, Keesara police started the investigation. As part of the probe, officers detained all five accused at Bogaram Crossroads on the 13th.
Police questioned the accused after taking them into custody. Officers then seized an air pistol and a knife.
They also recovered the iPhone and the Tissot and Casio watches. Police seized other items linked to the alleged crime.
Police identified the accused as Chepyala Vidya Prakash Reddy alias Vidya, Abraboyina Deekshith, Dharavath Rahul, Annabheemoju Sai Vineeth and Kommeri Rakesh.
The accused underwent medical examinations. Police later produced them before a court and sent them to judicial remand.
Keesara police advised people to remain cautious during vehicle purchases and sales. They asked buyers and sellers to verify ownership details and documents.
Police also advised people to check all financial transactions. They warned against meeting unfamiliar people at isolated places for vehicle deals.
The police urged people to report threats involving weapons immediately. They also asked victims to report money demands linked to threats involving personal photographs on social media.
