Hyderabad: TRS chief K. Kavitha alleged that the Singareni coal block auction had pushed Singareni Collieries into a crisis and threatened the future of the State-owned coal company. She blamed Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy for the situation.
Kavitha alleged that authorities ignored repeated requests to allot coal blocks directly to Singareni instead of conducting open auctions. She claimed a larger conspiracy lay behind the auction of the Manuguru PKOCP coal block.
According to Kavitha, the State government publicly announced that Singareni would participate in the auction. However, she alleged that it was simultaneously making efforts to bring TSGENCO into the bidding process.
Singareni coal block auction draws criticism
Questioning the move, Kavitha asked why the government had decided to pit TSGENCO against Singareni. She said Singareni had decades of experience in coal mining, while TSGENCO had no expertise in the sector.
The TRS chief demanded that A. Revanth Reddy explain the reasons for allowing TSGENCO to compete with Singareni. She alleged that the government planned to secure coal blocks through TSGENCO and later hand them over to private companies by citing a lack of operational experience.
Calling on the Centre to intervene, Kavitha said G. Kishan Reddy should ensure direct allocation of coal blocks to Singareni if he was committed to protecting the company’s future. She also demanded that the State government immediately withdraw TSGENCO from the auction process.
