Jupally asks excise officers to intensify fight against drugs

Hyderabad: Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao directed newly inducted excise officers to strengthen the fight against drugs and prevent youth from falling victim to narcotics and ganja abuse.

Addressing a passing-out parade at the Telangana Excise Academy in Bandlaguda Jagir on Thursday, the minister said excise personnel carry a key responsibility in protecting society from substance abuse.

He inspected the parade and received the ceremonial salute during the event.

A total of 117 officers completed their training and joined service.

The batch included 28 Assistant Excise Superintendents and 89 Excise Sub-Inspectors.

Fight against drugs remains key priority for excise department

Jupally Krishna Rao urged officers to take strict action against the illegal transportation and sale of drugs and ganja.

He asked them to perform their duties with honesty, discipline and transparency.

Meanwhile, the minister said the state government was giving special importance to controlling narcotics-related offences.

He called on officials to uphold public trust through professional conduct.

Further, he instructed officers not to compromise under any circumstances in efforts to eliminate drugs and ganja.

According to the minister, every officer should work with dedication to build a drug-free society in Telangana.

Subsequently, he presented certificates and awards to trainees who excelled during the training programme.

Senior excise officials, training staff, newly inducted officers and their family members attended the ceremony.
