Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court directed respondents to file a memo confirming their claim that officials completed journalists accreditation renewal. A Division Bench heard a contempt case filed by the Telangana State Urdu Working Journalists Federation. Its secretary, Ghouse Mohiuddin, represented the federation in the case.
Justice P. Sam Koshy and Justice Narsing Rao Nandikonda comprised the Division Bench. The matter came before Court No. 2 of the Telangana High Court. Additional Advocate General Rahul Reddy appeared for the respondents. He told the court that officials had already renewed the accreditation cards.
Therefore, Reddy submitted that the respondents had complied with the court’s earlier order. However, petitioner counsel Advocate Barkat Ali Khan disputed the submission. He told the bench that officials had not renewed the journalists’ accreditation cards.
Journalists accreditation renewal claim disputed
Khan said authorities had issued a circular to TGSRTC for renewal of bus passes. However, he argued that the circular did not establish compliance with the accreditation order. He told the bench that officials had not completed the journalists accreditation renewal till date.
Moreover, Khan said the I&PR Department had received no circular for accreditation renewal after February 28, 2026. The petitioner’s counsel said the earlier court direction specifically concerned renewal of accreditation cards. Therefore, he argued that a circular concerning bus passes alone could not establish compliance.
Khan also argued that treating the bus pass circular as compliance could mislead the court. He maintained that the respondents had not complied with the order issued on April 30, 2026.
After hearing both sides, the Division Bench asked the respondents to place their claim on record. Accordingly, it directed them to file a memo confirming their claim that officials had renewed the cards. The court posted the matter for further hearing on November 5, 2026.
