Hyderabad: A Fast Track Special Court in Ranga Reddy district sentenced a 30-year-old madrasa teacher to life imprisonment in a POCSO case. Pahadi Shareef police identified the convicted man as Mohammed Munawar Hussain. He worked as a teacher at Madarsa Islamia Kashiful Uloom in Mamidipally.
The court convicted him under Section 351(2) of the BNS and Sections 5(f)(l) and 6 of the POCSO Act. In addition to the life imprisonment POCSO sentence, the court imposed a Rs 25,000 fine. It also awarded Rs 2 lakh as compensation to the victim.
Life imprisonment POCSO sentence follows investigation
According to the prosecution, the case involved a 13-year-old student. The prosecution said Hussain sexually assaulted the child multiple times in December 2024. The offence came to light after the child developed a severe infection. Subsequently, the child disclosed the incidents to his mother.
The family lodged a complaint on January 4, 2025. Following the complaint, Pahadi Shareef police registered a case and began an investigation. The prosecution later presented evidence gathered during the investigation before the court. After considering the evidence, the court convicted Hussain and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
Meanwhile, police authorities commended the investigating officers, prosecution team and support staff for securing the conviction. The investigating team included Ch. Jithender, then Detective Inspector at Pahadi Shareef police station. He currently serves as Inspector at Ibrahimpatnam Traffic police station.
P. Guruva Reddy, then Inspector at Pahadi Shareef police station, also worked on the investigation. He currently serves as Inspector with the Special Branch in Malkajgiri. Police also acknowledged Pahadi Shareef Station House Officer B. Lakshmi Narayana Reddy and the prosecution team for their efforts.
