Hyderabad locals turn to HYDRAA Prajavani to reclaim public land from encroachers

HYDERABAD: Ordinary citizens are increasingly using the HYDRAA Prajavani grievance platform to report illegal land encroachments. From unauthorized construction over public roads to blocked stormwater drains and park takeovers, residents are no longer staying silent. In a single day—Monday—the platform received 64 complaints from across Hyderabad and surrounding districts.

Citizens Speak Out with Proof and Confidence

Many residents said these issues had persisted for years. Now, HYDRAA’s responsiveness is giving people the confidence to raise their voices. Complainants are providing layout maps and photos as evidence of violations. Several complaints involved powerful builders who allegedly altered drainage paths or took over designated roadways.

HYDRAA Commissioner Responds Promptly

HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath reviewed the submissions using Google Maps and Survey of India data. He immediately directed relevant departments to act. Many citizens felt reassured by the quick analysis and suggestions provided at the grievance sessions.

Key Complaints Filed on Monday

1. Gajularamaram, Medchal-Malkajgiri

Residents of Vokshith Hill View Colony (7 acres, 200 families) reported that a builder blocked a natural flood drain while constructing apartments. The blockage destroyed existing municipal pipelines and left water stagnating, creating health hazards.

2. BN Reddy Nagar, Hayathnagar

Locals said the outlets from Kapra Cheruvu were closed off, causing backflow into upper colonies like Hariharapuram. Nearly 20 colonies are facing frequent waterlogging due to this obstruction.

3. Pashumamula Village, Pedda Amberpet

In Survey No. 454, residents of a 1982-approved layout alleged that a neighboring landowner from Survey No. 455 encroached on their internal roads and merged plots, disrupting access.

4. Venkata Puram, Alwal Mandal

A 372-square-yard community well was filled with debris. Residents now allege a private party is trying to demolish the site using forged documents and has removed fencing set up by GHMC.

5. Madheenaguda, Serilingampally

Citizens claim that defunct landowners of Survey No. 124/1, covering over 200 acres, are trying to sell government-assigned land illegally.

6. Kondapur, Raghavendra Colony

Locals complained about the illegal occupation of land reserved for a school and vehicle parking. They urged HYDRAA to protect the remaining 1,000 square yards from further encroachment.

7. Madheenaguda, Survey No. 48

The Hriday Cooperative Society alleged that someone submitted fake documents to HMDA and took over their approved layout space, including internal roads and plots.

Officials Promise Swift Action

HYDRAA officers assured the public that all complaints would be physically verified. Legal action will follow wherever encroachments are confirmed.

This proactive engagement shows that with the right platform, communities can push back against decades-old civic issues and reclaim their rights to public infrastructure.
